Brother - Hannah Cochran

Writer's picture: pnhslitclubpnhslitclub

Eyes that shined like emeralds

and his smile brighter than the city lights

A chuckle that sounds like thunder

heard from afar.

his happiness glowed bright

but that glow dimmed

until there wasn’t a glow

anymore.

Eyes were a pale gray

and his breath fouler than a rotten apple

A faint sob that sounds like an animal

heard from his bedroom door

Red, white and blue glowed bright

but the sobs faded out

until there wasn’t a sob

anymore.

depression is easy

to cover up

for it’s a mask one can wear all day

they chuckle, they smile, and they’ll even say

“I’m fine, sister,

let’s just go play.”
