What The Wind Said To Me - Noor Refaqat

Wind brushes over the sea and

Wraps her arms around me.

She breathes gently in my ear

And tell me what i want to hear.

She rests her head on my hands

As we sit forever on the sand.

I try to see her face,

But she covers it with grace.

For eternities we stare off to sea

And I ask her what we might be.

She turns her face away

And just as night would turn to day,

She whispered to me

“I can never be free”

And with concern in my voice,

For she left me no choice,

All I can say is

“Why?”

She didn’t cry

But gently, one last time, she touched my hair

And left me grasping at thin air.
